Dear Friend of Nepal:

On behalf of ANMF Board of Directors I wish you a happy holiday season and a happy new year 2007. I would also like to thank all who have given support to America Nepal Medical Foundation. The Foundation held its 10th Annual Conference in Newark, New Jersey, earlier this year. The theme was "ANMF in the 2nd Decade: Supporting Healthcare in Rural Nepal". As Nepal is now emerging from its political crisis and there is hope for a peaceful Nepal in the coming year, we feel that there will be more opportunities to provide service to the people in previously inaccessible parts of the country. Even in hard times, ANMF supported projects of brave healthcare workers in Nepal who continued to provide their services to the rural population. You can find the report on ANMF's recent activities on the ANMF website.

The ANMF Board of Directors has approved funding the following projects for 2007:

  1. Pediatric Intensive Care Training for Patan Hospital ($1,100)
  2. Educational Program of Hospice Nepal ($7,000)
  3. Nyaya Health Equity Initiative for Perinatal and Pediatric Care in Far Western Nepal ($10,000 and fund raising status)
  4. Medical Education Unit at Patan Hospital ($2,500)
  5. Snake Bite Project at Bharatpur Hospital ($384)

In addition, ANMF Board has also decided to collaborate with the Nick Simon Institute's Rural Nepal Quality Health Training Program. We will need volunteers who can participate in this training program. We will be sending out more specific information in future. We had received several other project applications from Nepal. Few more project applications with excellent goals have been sent back to ANMF/Nepal for further information.

We would like to thank all the donors for supporting the ongoing Smriti Bhawan (Memorial Building) Project of Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital. They are seeking for more donations ($1450 per individual in the memory of a family member) to reach their goal.

We would also like to thank you for the support you have provided to ANMF by being member, making donations, and/or participating in its activities. We hope to receive your continuing support. If you have any suggestions, please let us know. ANMF is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization in the USA. All ANMF members are volunteers.

We wish you a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year.

We hope peace and happiness will continue to prevail for all of humanity.

Sincerely,

Janak Koirala
