Medical Schools in Nepal

AMDA-Nepal Health Manpower Development Center - at Damak. Established on 1995, as a human resource training unit of AMDA Hospital. Conducts CTEVT accredited training program of ANM, CMA and Lab Assistant. Infrastructure has been developed for the academic training of Health Assistant/Staff Nurse and is waiting for its accreditation from CTEVT.

B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences - in Ghopa, Dharan, established in 1993, an autonomous Health Sciences University with a mandate to work towards socially responsible and competent health work force, a government institution.

College of Medical Sciences - in Bharatpur, Chitwan, affiliated with Kathmandu University.

Institute of Medicine - in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, established by the government in 1972 under Tribhuvan University with the mandate and the responsibility of training all categories of health manpower needed in the country. Nepal's first medical school, a government institution.

Janaki Medical College - in Dhanusha, Janakpur, affiliated with Tribhuvan University, is being developed and promoted by private sector in Janakpurdham as an institution to provide undergraduate medical training program (MBBS) for 100 students intake per year.

Kathmandu Medical College -  in Sinamangal, Kathmandu, established in December 1997, recognized by the Nepal Medical Council and Sri Lanka Medical Council and affiliated with Kathmandu University

Kathmandu University Medical School - in Dhulikhel, a not-for-profit, privately managed and public oriented medical school established in 2001 as part of Kathmandu University

Manipal College of Medical Sciences - in Pokhara, established in 1994, affiliated to Kathmandu University. The College is the result of a collaboration between the Manipal Group and the Government of Nepal. On campus are a 700-bed specialty teaching hospital, a medical college, and a residential complex.

National Medical College - in Birgunj, affiliated to Tribhuvan University and functioning under the Institute of Medicine, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.

Nepal Homoeopathic Medical College - in Biratnagar, affiliated to Purbanchal University, offers BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) programme under English medium.

Nepal Institute of Health Sciences - in Boudha, Kathmandu, affiliated with Purbanchal University .

Nepal Medical College - in Jorpati, Kathmandu, provides undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in medicine and health sciences, as well as a teaching hospital

Nepalgunj Medical College - in Neplagunj, fulfills the recommendations of Nepal Medical Council, Medical Council of India and other Medical Councils of SAARC countries and abroad. It follows the curriculum prescribed by Kathmandu University. Special emphasis is laid on clinical training from day one. The college has developed its own 700-bed teaching hospital with most modern equipments and a galaxy of experienced and qualified teachers in every branch of medicine. Affiliated with Kathmandu University.

Patan Academy of Health Sciences - dedicated to improving the health status of the people of Nepal, especially those who are impoverished and living in remote or rural areas. The academy will initially consist of a medical school, which will begin to teach prospective doctors by 2010. In the future, PAHS will also open a School of Nursing, a School of Allied Health Sciences, and schools to train other health care professionals.
