Dear Friends of Nepal,

Thank you for the support and well wishes you have given to America Nepal Medical Foundation. The Foundation had its 12^th Annual Conference in Valley Forge, Philadelphia in June 2008. The theme was Infectious Disease in Nepal. This year has been one of the historic year for Nepal. End of monarchy and establishment of Republic of Nepal has put us in such a critical juncture that slight negligence and lack of foresight in part of leaders may lead to catastrophic consequences to establish stable and prosperous Nepal that we always dreamt of. Nonetheless we are having some sigh of relief due to successful constitutional assembly election with establishment of stable government. The process of formation of new constitution has started for new republic of Nepal. In this critical period our role as a successful nonprofit organization becomes even more important to help Nepal in any way we can. In the coming year, we feel that there will be more opportunities to provide service to the people of Nepal in previously inaccessible parts of the country. ANMF is more optimistic than ever about realizing this goal.

We have approved funding the following projects for 2008-09

• Basic Laboratory support to Samaj Sahakari Hospital – Bardibas, Mahotari district ($8,883)
• Snakebite Prevention Booklet – Chitwan ($3,826)
• Primary Eye Care Clinic – Kirtipur ($6,479)
• Epidemiology of Endemic Parasites – Gorkha ($2,963)
• Equipment for Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units – Patan Hospital (Fund Raising Project)

We have started the process to review proposal for next year projects. We would like to thank all the donors for supporting ANMF in achieving its goal. We thank you for the support you have provided to ANMF by being a member, making donations, and participating in its activities. We hope to receive your ongoing support. If you have not signed up for or renewed your membership, we request you to do so today. ANMF is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. All ANMF members are volunteers. Our next annual conference is at Columbus, Ohio on 19th, 20th and 21st June 2009. Please mark your calendar and make all the effort to attend it. We need your participation, suggestion and input.
