Subject: RE: progress report on Electrophysiology Training Fellowship

Dear Nawang,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Here National University Hospital in Singapore is one of the largest tertiary care hospital in Singapore. Approximately there are 15 to 20 admissions in cardiology alone per day. The number of cardiac patients admitted is around 80 to 100.

The hospital has 3 cardiac catheterization laboratories (with one biplane cath lab). Regarding Electrophysiolgy they have a EP system manufactured by GE (General electronics, USA) and a CARTO system manufactured by Johnson & Johnson.

Currently there are 3 full fledged consultant electrophysiologists deputed in the hospital.

They do EP studies (VT studies as well), ablations (Radio frequency ablations for PSVTs, VTs and atrial fibrillations), pacemaker implantation (mostly dual), Automatic Cardioverter Defibrillator Implantation and Bi Ventricular Pacemaker implantations. They do these cases 5 days a week and I have been given free hands on training by them. Of the three electrophysiologist one is trained in Canada (Toronto), one in Australia and the other in USA (Mayo's) so I am getting a good exposure and tips from them. So the learning experience I gain from them is a blend of three countries where they got trained.

That is in brief about my training.

With regards

Dr. Sujeeb Rajbhandari
