Rekha Hamal received MD, OB-GYN from Post Graduate Institute (PGI), Chandigarh, India. She graduated from the Family Practice Residency Program from University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Rekha Hamal worked as assistant lecturer in Ob-Gyn at the Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu (1990-1991). She has published articles on Women's health while in Nepal and volunteered for youth health organization serving in remote part of Kathmandu Valley.

Currently she works as a Family Practice Physician at North Hudson Community Health Center in West New York, NJ. Rekha Hamal was the coordinator for ANMF's 10th annual conference held in Newark, New Jersey in June, 2006. She has also been volunteering at community health fair for Hispanic Community and in Hindu Temple providing basic heath care for people without heath insurance in New Jersey. She has actively organized fund raising programs for ANMF in New York city and organized the Health Fairs for the Nepali community in the New York city area.
