Canada Nepal Medical Society to be Established in Canada

ANMF members Ian Macmillan and Edith Bacon have begun the process of incorporating Canada Nepal Medical Society to be a charitable enterprise in Canada. Anil Thapa, Nira Sharma, Tulsi Dharel, Ian Macmillan, Edith Bacon and Imran Ansari (visiting from Patan Hospital) held a first organizing meeting Sunday, September 11, 2005 at the Brampton Tandoori Restaurant in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. This group has decided to incorporate in Canada so Canadian donors will be able to enjoy the same kind of tax advantages that American donors already have when they contribute to ANMF.

The purpose of the new organization will be multifaceted in promoting the advancement of medical training and practice in Nepal. The current organizational concept is that CNMS will act in close cooperation with ANMF and the two organizations will share screening of projects through the Nepal organization and then decide on the sharing of funding.

ANMF looks forward to working together with its new sister organization CNMS.
