Hi Rupa:

I have been trying to contact the trainer nurses and pharmacists who need travel support. There is a separate coordinator for that group (nurses and pharmacist trainers). I will be meeting with the group in a couple of weeks. So far, whoever has replied, they are okay to receive the fund in Nepal. If ANMF sends the targeted donation ($8000.00) to ANMF Nepal by May end, probably ANMF Nepal and Patan Hospital can coordinate how the payment is made in Nepal.

As far as the funds received for the project, the PICU training project (07PH001) has received a total of $8000.00 supporting the nurse and pharmacist trainers. Mr and Mrs Brustins have clearly mentioned in their letter that it will be under my discretion. They are aware that it will be used for the training project, not for the equipment. Dr. Libby Wilson has also indicated in her email that her donation is for supporting the travel for PICU trainers.

It is very important to realize that both trainers and equipment are essential components for starting the PICU/NICU. This dedicated group of trainers (nurses and pharmacists) have been working very hard for last 2 years and have already prepared curricula for 3-months long training program.  We have teleconferences almost every month and have also physically met a few times. This will be the first state-of-the-art PICU/NICU in Nepal. We are hoping we will be able to train Nepali team adequately so that they can run the ICUs smoothly after the trainers leave Nepal. It is indeed a big challenge for all of us because of the the time constraints.

The PICU/NICU team is very grateful for all the support provided to this project. I will keep you updated with the progress.
